Employment Information

Asia-Pacific ASA (APASA), an equal opportunity employer, is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced men and women for 12 month enrollment in our Specialist/Short-Term Employment Register, for possible employment on a short-term or temporary basis only, either within Australia or overseas. We seek people experienced within the following areas.

  • Hydrodynamic modelling (1,2 & 3 dimensional)
  • Real-time modelling to guide spill/emergency response
  • Spill risk assessments for Oil and Chemical Spills
  • Assessments of oil spill weathering and dispersability in field conditions
  • Pollutant transport & fate modelling
  • Modelling of water quality dynamics
  • Modelling of coastal modifications
  • Application of modelling to sediment disturbance and disposal projects
  • Modelling of biological impact and ecological risk assessment
  • Natural resource damage assessment
  • Guidance of search and rescue or recovery operations at sea
  • Integration of GIS, remotely sensed and measured data with modelling
  • GIS mapping, habitat mapping and pre and post-spill biological sampling
  • Spill contingency planning or emergency response planning

Practitioners who have experience in these areas are invited to participate in our Register, noting that minimal training is available, hence would be expected to have the required skill and knowledge in these areas. Please note that acceptance of registration does not constitute an offer of employment. We would offer employment as project requirements arise, with offers extended to registrants with the most applicable skills for that project. Periods of employment may vary in duration from one week to a maximum of 12 months. Salary will vary depending on the experience and qualifications of applicants and the work involved.
